About The Role:
The QS / Commercial Manager is responsible for managing all commercial and contractual aspects of construction projects. The role includes preparing client interim payment applications, pricing BOQ items, and reviewing subcontractors’ claims and payment certificates. The position ensures accurate cost control, timely cash flow, and compliance with contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit client interim payment certificates (IPCs) in line with contract terms.
- Review, verify, and approve subcontractors’ payment certificates.
- Price BOQ items and variations accurately based on drawings and specifications.
- Lead cost estimation and tendering processes for new projects.
- Negotiate and finalize contractual terms with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Monitor project budgets, cash flow, and financial performance.
- Identify and resolve commercial and contractual risks.
- Prepare financial and cost reports for senior management.
- Manage claims, variations, and contractual disputes.
- Mentor and supervise a team of quantity surveyors.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management.
- Minimum 8–10 years of QS/commercial experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of contracts (FIDIC, NEC, or equivalent).
- Proven experience in preparing client payment applications and subcontractor management.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, and QS/ERP software.
- Strong communication skills in English.
